EmmaH – 4th August 2016 – Owners Direct review
Lovely house, very homely, well equipped, warm and cosy and in warm weather nice and airy with the windows open - not stuffy at all. The owner is very helpful and lovely to deal with, the housekeeper was also lovely (we arrived a little early and she made us tea in the garden). I don't recommend arriving early though as even though she was very lovely and accommodating, she was still very busy cleaning the huge house ???? The description makes you think it is a little cottage when in fact is is a large house with plenty of space for the larger families. Plenty of room. Great eating area for the family and plenty of space and equipment to cook with. The garden is a sun trap and very peaceful. The main village is less than 2 minutes walk and all the shops and pubs are just on the doorstep. The walks in the area are beautiful and the owner has provided lots of books to help you find the best walks for you. This was our second stay and will be returning again ????
Owners Direct Lake District review of our Coniston Cottage
We truly did have a great holiday in Coniston and Puddleduck House is fantastic. We were two couples and it was great to have our own en suite on different floors. The bathroom upstairs is just perfect, so beautifully equipped and decorated, as is the whole house in fact. I really can't fault Puddleduck House. Also Coniston is a superb place to stay with shops, pubs and restaurants all virtually at the end of the road. The lake, which is just a short walk away, was the star of the show for me, i's beauty is stunning and photographer's dream! We also got out and about a bit including going to the motor museum nearby and having a go at segwaying in Grizedale Forest. We will be going back!

We had a great week in Coniston, it's a great base for walking. Puddleduck cottage is lovely it's a great size for a family or group of adults, we were the latter plus a dog. It was spotlessly clean. The welcome lemon drizzle cake, fudge & wine are a lovely touch & there was a pint of milk for that cuppa after a long journey. We didn't use the garden as it wasn't the right time of year, it's not very big but it does have lovely views. It's a very short walk to the village centre where you can get all your essentials. The pubs were all good but the men especially liked the Black Bull which has its own micro brewery & the food was good. Steam restaurant is a must if you like really good food, you take your own alcohol which keeps the cost down, definitely need to book though it's always full. We would highly recommend this property & Chloe, the owner, who was quick to respond to all correspondence.
Wonderful self catering accommodation
we have stayed in a lot of wonderful self catering accommodation over the years and Puddleduck House must rate up with some of the best and a return visit next year is very good possibility. A good central location, plenty of space,a very well equipped kitchen and a fabulous bathroom all meant for a realy enjoyable stay and the gift of Wine,Fudge and Cake was a nice touch. If eating out I would highly recommend The Steamer Bistro which is only very short walk from Puddleduck as the food is fantastic but I would advise booking in advance as its very popular.
Owners Direct review Puddleduck House Coniston
We absolutely loved staying at Puddleduck. My husband and I have stayed at many self catering cottages over the years and I have to say that this is the best! We cannot praise Chloe enough for all the facilities within Puddleduck. The only time we have had a roll top bath and filter coffee was a 5 star cottage. Roses, wine and home made cake, wow! This was our 1st stay in Coniston as we usually stay at Bowness but we far preferred Coniston and will definitely return! Our week went too quickly and wish we were still there. You won't be disappointed, it's a gem of a cottage.

Fantastic cottage, cannot recommend highly enough. Owner could not have been more helpful. Welcome package of cake and wine was left for us (cake was homemade and delicious). Definitely the jewel in the Crown of Coniston. Thank you for a lovely break away from it all. Kerry

The house is situated close to all village shops , pubs and bus stop . Rooms are well fitted and decorated, with a modern bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and conveniently laid out. Outside, the garage will take two modest-sized cars, and leads to a small, pleasant garden with views up to the Coniston Old Man range. A good spot to lounge in the sunshine with a glass of something!. An excellent place to stay, particularly if the weather is good as it was for us all week.
Puddleduck House TripAdvisor Review 10-3-2017
Four of us ('girls' on tour) stayed at Puddleduck House for 3 nights and it was perfect for our needs. The location is fantastic. A 2 minute walk (if that) to the town, pubs, restaurants etc. A 5 minute stroll to walk along Coniston Water and beyond. The house had everything we needed and was very cosy, comfortable and fabulous. We had wonderful weather and took full advantage of Coniston's proximity to some other fabulous areas of the south Lake District. On the first day we walked so far that we struggled to climb the stairs to bed but a good night's sleep had us ready to explore again. We had a trip down Coniston which was a treat and the information from the lovely guy on board was interesting and very poignant regarding Donald Campbell. We visited Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's home, and it was worth the visit. Hawkshead was nice for a wander round and a BIG slice of cake in the Sun Café!!! Chloe was so helpful during the booking process and she we arrived to a treat of a bottle of wine and cake. I recommend Puddleduck House for a lovely home from home and hope to be back at some time. Puddleduck House in Coniston TripAdvisor Review – 12-2-2017
We stayed for 1 week at Puddleduck and have no hesitations rating this house as one of the best we have stayed in and we have stayed in over 30 self catering houses. Chloe is very attentive and quick to respond to any queries you may have. I have never known a kitchen to be so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is more like your own home than a holiday rental. My husband loved that there were so many local maps and guides for whatever length of walk you may want to take part in. The roll top bath was sheer luxury which I loved! The local area was delightful and only short walk down to Coniston waterside. The local pubs were great, we particularly liked the Black Bull for lovely bar meals and great chats! We wish we were still there and will definitely return. Thank you Chloe
